Riverbend is staying home

Now that Sidney Nolan’s Riverbend, 1965, has a purpose-built home on campus, it’s unlikely to go touring again, as ROSS PEAKE reports.

After touring regional Australia two decades ago, the iconic Australian work has been on display at the Drill Hall Gallery, originally a heritage-listed former World War Two military training hall.

However, when the nine-panel masterpiece returned to ANU, it was hung back in the gallery with no special mounting or lighting.
