I enjoyed reading various opinion pieces by members of the ANU community, particularly the story by Mr James Grubel on the Magna Carta entitled, Can an 800-year-old document still be relevant? [Vol 46, No 2].
The article finds that the Magna Carta is the ultimate human rights charter because it set down humanity's rights and freedoms.
In this, on the 800th anniversary of the signing of the Magna Carta, such questions must continue to be asked to ensure a continued appreciation for a document that has become the foundation of democracy the world over.
I trust you will continue publishing the ANU Reporter to encourage free and enquiring minds to question what makes our democracy so great.
