Teaching and research quality shine in ANU World University Rankings

The Australian National University (ANU) has retained its 73^rd position on the Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings, remaining in fourth place nationally.

The University’s overall score increased by 0.4 points. This follows last year’s 1.9-point fall, and marks an end to a decline in the University’s THE rankings since 2017.

The result for ANU was driven by higher scores in the pillars of Teaching, Research Quality, International Outlook and Industry. Research Quality moved up 18 places to 198 – the University’s largest improvement in rankings. The highest ranked pillar was International Outlook, at 54^th globally, up seven places.

For the Teaching pillar, ANU recorded its strongest result in a decade, up by 3.1 points to 56.7. There were also improvements in the Doctorate-to-bachelor ratio (12.7) and Student-to-staff ratio (8.7). Teaching Reputation also improved by 0.8 points to 34.7.
