Dr Claudia Reyes is a Postdoctoral Fellow at the ANU Research School of Astronomy and Astrophysics.

Dr Reyes specialises in asteroseismology—the study of stellar oscillations—to investigate the internal structure and evolution of stars. Her research interests include galactic archaeology, stellar clusters, and binary systems.

She completed her PhD at the University of New South Wales (UNSW) in Sydney, where her thesis focused on the asteroseismology of giant stars and its application to stellar populations in the field and in open clusters. She also holds an MSc in Astrophysics from Liverpool John Moores University (LJMU) in the UK, and a degree in Electronic Engineering from the Universidad de La Frontera (UFRO) in Chile.

Before commencing her PhD, she worked at the Very Large Telescope (VLT) in Chile’s Atacama Desert as part of the telescopes and instruments operations team. Her international background combines hands-on observatory experience with a strong academic foundation in stellar astrophysics.

While Dr Reyes’ media experience is limited, she is enthusiastic about communicating her research and engaging with broader audiences.
