Dr Debbie Argue is an Honorary Lecturer in the ANU School of Archaeology and Anthropology.

Debbie’s primary focus is on human evolution, and, in particular, Homo floresiensis, the diminutive hominin species discovered during archaeological excavations on the island of Flores in 2004. Often nicknamed ‘the Hobbit’, the origins of this archaic-looking species that lived until at least until 52,000 years ago, are mystifying.

Debbie has written many articles for the popular press and her book about Homo floresiensis, Little Species, Big Mystery, was published on 2 August 2022 by Melbourne University Publishing.
