Dr Dilnoza Ubaydullaeva is a Lecturer at the ANU National Security College.
Prior to joining NSC, she was a Lecturer in Government at Flinders University and an Honorary Research Fellow at the ANU Centre for Arab and Islamic Studies (Middle East and Central Asia).
Dr Ubaydullaeva’s research interests include securitisation theory, the geopolitics of Central Eurasia, radicalisation, Russian foreign policy in Central Asia and the nexus of security and policymaking in higher education. Her research has been published in leading academic journals, including Europe-Asia Studies, Journal of Political Ideologies, Central Asian Survey, Problems of Post-Communism, and Central Asian Affairs. Dilnoza also writes opinion pieces on great power politics in Eurasia, security, and higher education policy for leading policy and media platforms, including The Conversation, The Interpreter (Lowy Institute), and The Diplomat.
She obtained her PhD in Political Sciences and International Relations at the Australian National University. She was a Visiting Research Fellow in the Central Asia Program of Elliott School of International Affairs, George Washington University. Additionally, Dr Ubaydullaeva was also a Visiting Researcher under the DAAD-Tsukuba Research Program for Central Eurasian Studies at the University of Tübingen, Germany in 2013.
