Dr Estelle Strazdins is a Senior Lecturer in the Centre for Classical Studies in the School of Literature, Languages and Linguistics.

Her research focuses on Ancient Greek history and culture, including its impact on present-day society and culture. She has particular expertise in the Hellenistic and Roman periods, and in Western European travel to Ottoman lands in the early modern and modern periods. She is an expert on ancient memory and commemoration, especially via monuments, and on ancient travel.

Dr Strazdins has appeared on podcasts, including the acclaimed ‘Emperors of Rome Podcast’, in documentaries, and been interviewed by several media outlets in the past. She is also Vice President of the Australasian Women in Ancient World Studies, a society that supports women to transcend institutional barriers to success and promotes the study of marginalised groups in antiquity.
