Dr Gemma King is a Senior Lecturer in French and Australian Research Council DECRA Fellow in Screen at the ANU School of Literature, Languages and Linguistics.

Dr King researches transnational film and television and French culture and society, with a focus on language (especially sign language), migration, deafness, disability, colonial histories, violence and social power. She is President of the Australian Society for French Studies, lead on the ARC project Sign on Screen and author of the film books Decentring France (2017) and Jacques Audiard (2021), both with Manchester University Press.
