Dr James Mortensen is a Lecturer at the ANU National Security College.

James researches the history and philosophy of security, and the role of political philosophy in determining public policy and public opinion, especially in relation to security. He also examines the use and abuse of technology in security and politics, especially the role of novel and developing technologies in determining security policy.

James also researches the intersection of the natural and human environment with security. His current projects include studies on freshwater management, urban planning, and mental health.
