Dr Jay Song is an Honorary Associate Professor at the ANU Research School of Management.
Dr Song holds a PhD in Politics and International Relations from the University of Cambridge, UK. Prior to her current position, she was Korea Foundation Associate Professor and Director of the Korean Studies Research Hub at the University of Melbourne from 2017 to 2023.
In addition to her academic appointments, Jay has also held various professional positions in multiple countries, including the UN Consultant for the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights in Geneva, Associate Fellow of the Royal Institute for International Affairs in London, Director of Migration Policy at the Lowy Institute in Sydney, and Fellow of the Carnegie Council for Ethics in International Affairs in New York.
Jay has published 4 books and numerous academic articles on Asian migration and the Koreas. She has won multiple government grants from Australia, Singapore and South Korea, including the Australian Research Council Discovery Projects. Her current research focuses on Korean migration to Australia, North Korea and Korea-Australian relations.
