Dr Jenny L Davis is a Senior Lecturer at the ANU School of Sociology and Deputy Lead of the ANU Humanising Machine Intelligence Project.

Dr Davis’s work intersects social psychology and technology studies with a particular focus on the way society and technology mutually influence each other. Although this research expands across all technological systems, she generally studies social media, digital technology, and AI/Big Data. Her work appears in top peer-review venues and has been highlighted in Australian and international press outlets, including ABC and WIRED magazine.

In addition to her work in technology and society, Dr Davis runs laboratory studies to understand basic processes in social psychology. Most notably, this includes research on “role-taking,” or how people put themselves in the proverbial shoes of another. Her laboratory at ANU is the sole site of laboratory experimental methods in all of Australian sociology.
