Professor Karima Laachir is the Director of the ANU Centre for Arab and Islamic Studies, and a member of the ANU Gender Institute and the Global Institute for Women’s Leadership.

Professor Laachir works on the cultures and politics of the Middle East with a particular focus on the Arabic-speaking world.

She works on issues related to social and political movements, gender and women’s rights and Muslim diaspora in the West and Australia.
