Dr Rochelle Bailey is a Research Fellow at the ANU Department of Pacific Affairs.

She is a political anthropologist who has conducted ethnographical fieldwork in Australia, New Zealand, Samoa and Vanuatu.

Her research investigates economic, cultural, political and social outcomes of Pacific labour mobility in New Zealand’s Recognised Seasonal Employer Scheme (2007-2023) and Australia’s Seasonal Worker Programme (2012-2023).

She is currently engaged in a longitudinal study of labour mobility impacts of the Recognised Seasonal Employer Scheme, alongside research on the Seasonal Worker Programme. Her research interests are the Pacific region, labour mobility, culture, society, politics, health and wellbeing, migration, economics and development.
