Professor Simon Avenell is a Professor at the ANU School of Culture, History and Language.
Professor Avenell researches modern Japanese history, politics and society. He has published widely on Japanese social movements, civil society, volunteerism, the environment, and Japan-Asia relations.
His recent work examines Japan’s history since 1945 as well as youth and intergenerational challenges.
